The Scoop On Pastured Turkey

Pastured Turkey are expensive.

Yes, they are. But the holidays are a special time and calls for special food. Right?

I can get a fresh turkey at Walmart WAY cheaper!

Sure you could but grocery store to get a “fresh” turkey, but how old is that turkey? Has it been sitting in freezer for months then set out for sale? Maybe. Did that turkey live its life with grass under it’s feet, and the sun over its head, munching of grass and bugs taking dust baths?

No it didn’t.

Us pasture-based farmers have higher labor costs, we work with our animals multiple times a day, we do hands on labor, these turkeys aren’t raised in an automated barn, our turkeys are supplemented organic grain so those costs are higher.

When you buy a local pastured turkey your doing quite a few things:

  • Supporting the local economy and keeping the money in the community.

  • Supporting soil revitalization and carbon sequestration (thats super important folks!)

  • You know where your food is from and where it’s been.

  • Pastured turkey is higher in omega-3 fatty acids and has a better balance of omega-6 to omega-3 fats than CAFO(Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations). So more nutrients!

  • You are supporting a local family that has put their heart and love into ethically raising your turkey, for your special holiday meal.
